8/29/12

Here is a quote from one of Sister Mecham's letters.  She leaves for Detroit on Monday!

"The MTC is truly a remarkable place. It amazes me how much you feel the spirit here. It just makes me realize even more why I'm here and why missionary work is so important. Oh I love it! It seriously has been such a great experience and I know that I wouldn't be able to grow this much this fast if I wasn't here. I thank the Lord every day for allowing me the opportunity to serve a mission. There is no greater feeling then teaching someone about the gospel. It really is a church of happiness."

See You When I See You

As pathetic as it sounds ONE of the things I'm going to miss the most is my country music. It just speaks to my soul. At any given point in my life there always seems to be a song that matches my life perfectly. "See You When I See You" by Jason Aldean is currently the soundtrack to my life. If you haven't listened to it before don't worry I posted the video below:

And yes I often tear up when listening to this song. Don't judge, crying seems to be the story of my life lately. I've said a lot of goodbyes the last few days. And though I didn't cry when saying goodbye to people, I bawled later. I have such great friends and family that love and support me. It was so good to see everyone at my farewell, and I'm grateful they were willing to take time out of their busy lives to come support me. I loved sitting on the stand because I could see everyone come in. And with each new person that walked in my smile got bigger and bigger. (Disclaimer I was in a hurry when I was writing the rest of this post. So, please don't be offended if I didn't write very much about you. I promise thank you cards will be coming around soon and I can write you a novel in them) My second parents aka Glen & Rosa Alldredge were even there! I was so excited to see them. And Megan Rose and her family came! Meg and I have been best friends since Kindergarten. Although, we don't see each other much, I know I can count on her to be there if I need her. And it's so fun when we get to catch up. Some of my Cedar friends also came- Clay, Shaylee, Kathlynn, Macey, Brecia, Maddy, Ashley, McKenna (who is also a Logan friend), Amelia, Dani, and I'm sure I'm missing names and for that I am sorry. I promise your present was greatly appreciated! Rob, Ali, Tari, Austin, and Katie from the Logan crew all came. It means so much to me that they were willing to drive  down and spend some time with me before I go. Grandma Patterson, Marsha, Kristy, and Aleisha all drove that crazy long drive down from Idaho. I'm so so happy they came and for all of the work they put in, to helping me get ready. Derrick and two of his friends came. I was happy to see him and catch up. We also had lots of friends of the family come and I'm so grateful for that! My Young Women President from when I was Laurel President came up from Mesquite. She's due in September and she still packed all four of her kids in the car and came. I love her for that! And I know there were tons of people that wanted to be there but couldn't, and I understand. I'm glad I was able to skype with Kassie yesterday and we chatted for like an hour. Oh how I miss that girl! I had to say goodbye to Katie yesterday and it was extremely hard. She is my other half and no one gets me quite like she does. We have been best friends since high school and pretty much inseparable. I was already having separation anxiety from saying goodbyes the day before, and this did not help. Oh man I can't even imagine how it's going to be saying goodbye to my family tomorrow. My dad promised me that if I go out and work hard that it will be harder to leave Michigan then it was to leave home.  It was just what I needed to hear and I truly believe it! I love the gospel so much and know the happiness it can bring to someone's life. That is why I am willing to put my wonderful life on hold, so that others can experience the joy that only the gospel brings. And this is not goodbye! Like Jason Aldean says "Lets don't say goodbye, I hate the way it sounds. So if you don't mind, lets just say for now-See you when I see you. Another place some other time... We'll laugh about the old days and catch up on the new. Yeah see you when I see you till then my prayers are with you and I hope it's some day soon."
